A little (and by “little” I mean “a rather long-winded”) catch up post for the start of the week!

What I’m reading 📖

All the Light We Cannot See (about 50% in!)

I forget how much I love historical fiction that spans generations until I pick a book up in that genre and get completely engrossed (Pachinko & Hamnet are some of my favorites as well). ATLWCS is an exquisitely written book about two very kind people whose light cannot be dimmed by the tumultuous time they live in & I’m living for them & all the rich historical details.

What I am watching 🍿

This is strange because we always have a show we’re watching at any given time, but recently we’ve been in a tv slump! Nothing seems appealing & we are just waiting for a couple of our favorite shows to come back for another season (Severance, The Boys, The Handmaid’s Tale—when?) We occasionally watch Always Sunny in Philadelphia—we’ve been watching it for years & are finally catching up with the latest seasons

What I’m listening to 🎶

I’ve been really into Stepephen Sanchez lately & I’m also on a Hozier kick!

What I’m playing 🎮

Still on my first playthrough of Balduar’s Gate 3. We’re doing a campaign with a friend and it’s been so much fun. I’m at the tail end of Act III and I can’t wait to see how the game wraps up (also, Astarion told me he loves me!)

What I’m looking forward to 💖

We didn’t do much this past weekend as we were feeling a bit under the weather so I’m looking forward to going on an adventure this weekend instead (or rather on a rampage if it involves our daughter 😄). I’ve seen lots of people fly kites at parks here & it’s something I want to try doing! 🪁

A coffee shop date with my family at the cutest bakery (@laliebrepanaderia) & a lovely time at the lake—just the perfect Sunday.

Also, I’m half way through my first read of the year (One Dark Window) and what a great impulse decision it was to pick it up. The story is filled with so much magic & wonder ✨A very addicting read as well.

With many adventures in between 🖤 What a year—I won’t pretend that having a baby & then moving abroad with said baby (and the cat! don’t forget the cat!) is all easy & glamorous, but it has certainly made my life so much more rewarding in every aspect. Love our days together—the small ones, the routine ones, and the big, exciting ones also. Happy New Year 💕

Our first Christmas abroad 😌🎁 We tried to make it as festive as possible with no family or friends around. But seeing my daughter’s face light up when we made cookies together & when she opened the presents in the morning made for the most magical Christmas yet 🖤
