Steeped in rich history dating back to 1846 and immersed in lush scenery, Bonaventure Cemetery in Georgia, located just outside of Savannah, is one of the most beautiful cemeteries I have ever visited. The cemetery breathes and lives the Southern Gothic aesthetic through its swaying Spanish moss, giant oak trees, the air of the supernatural. It is undeniably a liminal space, if there ever was one.

Blending a digital and an analogues technique, the photos were taken with a digital camera and a manual Helios 44-2 lens. I’m forever grateful to my photographer friends who had taught me this technique because it has been my favorite way to shoot for years now. I have also recently been immensely inspired by Briscoe Park’s photography on Twitter, especially their work from the South. Briscoe Park’s photos tell almost a complete story and are perfectly, hauntingly beautiful. I highly recommend checking out their work.
